The SWIM Registry will be migrated to an upgraded platform on [date]. The new platform brings improvements to how services are managed and introduces new capabilities for Service Description Editors and Organisation Points of Contact.
Please note: The registry will be unavailable for a short period during the migration. We will notify users in advance of the exact downtime window.
For all users
All existing service descriptions will be migrated automatically. Once the new platform is live, the registry will be available at the same address and all published services will remain visible without interruption.
The new platform also makes it easier to find services: the service list can now be filtered by Tag and by Information Domain.
For Service Description Editors
If you manage service descriptions, here is what to expect:
- New editing interface: Services are now edited through a structured JSON editor embedded directly in the browser, pre-configured with the relevant JSON schema. Validation feedback is shown in real time.
- Schema migration: Updated JSON schemas apply on the new platform. An automatic conversion will be applied to all migrated services wherever possible. Content is never silently dropped — if a field cannot be converted automatically, it is preserved so that you will be able to review.
- Published services stay published: If your service was in Published state on the old registry, it will remain published after migration. Validation errors, if any, will only become visible the next time you open the service for editing. You will need to resolve them before the service can be re-published.
- Tagging: You can now assign pre-defined tags to your services (currently, a tag to identify CP1 services is available).
- Linking to Service Definitions: Service descriptions can now be explicitly linked to their corresponding service definition.
We recommend reviewing your services after the migration and noting any that may need attention before their next update.
For Organisation Points of Contact
- Edit your organisation details: You can now directly edit your organisation's description, abbreviation, and provider type from your account menu, without contacting an administrator. The organisation name remains managed by administrators.
- Role request notifications: When a user requests a Service Description Editor role for your organisation, you will receive an email notification so you can follow up with the registry administrators.
